Wynberg and Hout Bay Drop-off facilities temporarily closed for garden greens
27 March 2026
Hout Bay and Wynberg Drop-off facilities are unable to accept garden waste until further notice.
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate advises residents that the Hout Bay and Wynberg Drop-off facilities are not able to accept garden greens due to unforeseen circumstances impacting operations. The City is currently investigating various strategies to mitigate the impact on the facilities and resume activities as soon as possible.
Customers are urged to use nearby alternatives, however, usage restrictions for garden greens will also be implemented at some smaller sites nearby due to capacity constraints.
Alternative drop-off facilities
During the temporary closure, residents are encouraged to make use of the closest alternative drop-off facilities:
- Retreat – only one (1) load per day, per customer
- Induland – only one (1) load per day, per customer
- Schaapkraal – only one (1) load per day, per customer
- Kommetjie
- Coastal Park Landfill
- Prince George Drive
The City regrets any inconvenience caused. Further announcements will be issued as soon as the situation is resolved.
